Burned out and in search of new ear candy

Well, it finally had to happen. I have 400 albums and am pretty much tired of everything I listen to. So, I decided to ask everyone what they are currently listening to. Hopefully, I can't get some ideas for good new music. The way it works is thus: List the top five albums that you currently have in rotation....in no particular order. Just the top 5 albums that you listen to the most, currently. I know some of you don't even listen to albums anymore now that you have mp3 players. I'm a little old fashioned. I mix it up. I usually listen to mp3's at home and single albums in my car. I'd prefer albums, but if you have a couple of songs that are in heavy rotation, I wouldn't mind hearing about them as well. Please list artist and title. So, to get the ball rolling, here are my top 5 albums playing in my car. (in no particular order)

1. The Flaming Lips- At War with the Mystics
2. Built to Spill- Keep it like a Secret
3. Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
4. The White Stripes - Get Behind me Satan
5. Frank Black - Honeycomb

Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Do I count? Tough. I'm bored.

Latest rotation in the car:

Pearl Jam, "Yield." In anticipation of their new album. I forgot how many good songs there are on this one.

Cracker, "Kerosene Hat." Oldie, but a goodie. I used to listen to this one in high school and recently bought a used copy.

Built to Spill, "You in Reverse." I'm so pissed I have to wait until Sept. to see them now.

Violent Femmes, "Freak Magnet." One of their more recent ones, not as good as classic VF, but still has a few good songs.

Modest Mouse, "Lonesome Crowded West." Sorry, couldn't offer anything new there. I hadn't listened to it in a long time.

I can't help you out here. I couldn't tell ya the last time I bought a CD. I am never satisified with all of the songs, so I prefer to just listen to the radio, more variety that way.

Yeah, I brought Lonesome Crowded West out of retirement. I forgot how solid an album it is. I've listened through it twice in the last 3 days. Pearl Jam Yield is argueably their best album, although many would say Ten is their best. Yield shows a maturity lacking in some of their past efforts. It also has my favorite Pearl Jam song...Push me, pull me. I'm also looking forward to the new album, but moreso the new Tool....which comes out TUESDAY!!! It's only been 5 years since their last album.

What type of music is Mike Ireland and Holler, Gretchen Wilson, and zero 7

Mike Ireland & Holler is the Country style band that another NC employee is the drummer for. They play at Mike's Tavern alot. Gretchen Wilson is country as well. She is known for the songs Redneck Woman, When I think About Cheating, and Here for the Party.

I was turned on to zero 7 by the song on the garden state soundtrack you sent me. As it turns out, that's the only song on the album I like. The music is wierd. Catch me on the IM and I'll send you the album.

The song is called 'In the Waiting Line'.

okay, yeah I like that song...I didn't remember the name of the band. The only band I really got into off that soundtrack was the Shins. I have a couple of their albums. They are okay, not great, but decent.

Graham Smith - The Final Battle
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel
Supersuckers - Must've Been High
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

The supersuckers album is actually their country album - if you're interested. I always have 'How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World' queued up for car rides! Pure Rock and Roll, Baby!

Demon Days is a good album, I bought it soon after it came out and listened to it a lot, so it's out of the rotation. What's Graham Smith like? Also, how's the new NIN? I like the single from that album. I have some supersuckers, but never got into them that much. Right now I'm full tilt into the new Tool album. Unfortunately it's got a lot of slow songs on it, like Lateralus but so far not as good. New Tool usually takes many listens before I fall in love with it. I said the same thing when Lateralus came out, but it became one of my favorite albums. So far, nothing tops Aenema to me. That is their pinnacle album as far as I'm concerned. The Tool album art is amazing. The cd case comes with stereotropic? glasses...it makes all the art in 3D. I also bought the new Pearl Jam, but it's on the back burner for a week or so. After I absorb those albums, I'm going to try some or your suggestions, as well as pull out Assjack from the vault for the upcoming concert. By the way Cassie, I finally saw Mirror Mask...that is one demented movie!

Fugazi - The Argument

I haven't really listened to this one, but I catch myself not hitting the 'next' button sometimes.

i loved Mirror Mask!
i like fantasy stuff like that, as well as the animation! it was awesome!

I got my Graham Smith album through the college radio station "CD of the Month" club. The minute i put it in, it didn't leave my CD player for up to 6 months.
The site i linked will let you listen to a few songs. i suggest #1, #7, #10 - good stuff....

I like the old fugazi stuff. "I am a patient boy, I wait, I wait, I wait" "1,2,3 repeater"...or "receeder as you bastards used to say. Is that Fugazi album new? Cassie, I'll check out those songs another day, too late tonight.
