HD-DVDEE plus MEE=Hapee, but still no Wii

So, I drug my ass out and braved the half-cleared roads this weekend to do a little christmas shopping. As usual, I end up buying myself a little something-something. I ended up at Best Buy and one of the thousand eager employees approached me and asked if I needed any help (usually I decline and say piss off in my head). This time though a thought popped in my head. "Do you have any blu-ray players in?", I asked. "Why certainly sir, follow me.", the employee cheerfully said. He took me to the dvd player section and proceeded to show me the cheapest blu-ray player.....800 bucks! Needless to say, I quickly lost interest. The staff member was quick to point out that if I had a xbox 360 I could get a HD-DVD drive for 200 bucks. By coincidence, I just happened to own one (see my previous post on the valiant search for the elusive 360). So, I told him I would think about it. I went and checked out the HD-DVD section. I was disappointed at the lack of good titles available. Blu-Ray had better movies and will probably win the competition eventually. However, there is little that can stop me once I have a purchase in mind (I think it's some kind of psychological disorder). So, I bought one, and a couple of movies to boot. The movies are crazy expesive. Old movies were 25-30 and new releases went as high as 35. I'm hoping that the local Hollywood video will soon be renting them, as I have no intention of restocking my library with HD. Also, the main reason I bought one is that my shitty cable company has been out of stock for HD receivers for almost a year, making my TV useless except for videogames. So, I make my purchase and head happily home. I call Jade on the way to tell her I got a little surprise. Long story short.....she got me one as a surprise christmas gift already. So, basically I ruined her surprise. Since there was no sense waiting till christmas since I already knew about it, we went ahead and hooked it up Saturday. I was very happy with the outcome. The picture is noticeably sharper, and the extras are more easily accessed (you can do it while the movie is playing). The player came with King Kong and it looked friggin fantastic (even though I'm not a huge fan of the movie). Not only that, but Jade got it for 40 bucks less than I payed for mine by using a coupon. So, here's to Jades' craftiness and ingenuity. Until that very day I hadn't even really considered getting a HD player. My explosion of joy was hindered somewhat due to the exhausting search for the Nintendo Wii. Like an idiot, I didn't reserve a system months ago, so here I am in the same boat I was with the 360....going store to store every couple days in hopes that they might still have one in stock. I do have a plan however.....this Saturday I'm going to be waiting at the mall before they open in hopes that I can get one at EB Games before the throng of shoppers clean them out. Yeah, sad, I know. But, one must understand the complete hold this system has on me with the unique controller and the first new Zelda game in several years. I've heard nothing but good things about the system, and I'm damned determined to have one. Odds are I'm going to have to wait well into the new year though. So, last ditch effort this weekend and if it doesn't happen, then I wash my hands of it for awhile. A consumption this strong cannot be healthy.

I have been...fererently. The Walmarts are all getting shipments tomorrow. They go on sale at 8am. I'm thinking of waiting in line at about 4am. I probably won't though. It's too friggin early and too friggin cold.

I have heard that they will not be widely available until after Christmas, unless, of course you are OCD like Jason.

BTW, I remember my mom going through all this for the latest shipment of Cabbage Patch Kids.

I'm planning on having people down sometime after the new year...maybe late January. If not then, then mid February. We could do a dual Aaron/Jade B-Day bash.

That sounds like a plan for the party.

I think I'm going to buy a PS3... maybe a year from now.
