Bested and Rested

Bowling went better this week. I bowled in the 130's and 140's. Jade's game, however, is blowing up. The week before last she got some tips from another left handed bowler. This week she went from bowling around 100 to bowling over 140. She beat me at least one, if not two games. It's amazing what moving a couple of boards over can do for your game. My hook ball continues to develop. I've finally figured out how to thow it without consistently going in the gutter. I only guttered 3-4 times this week (minus trying to pick up the 10 pin a couple times). Work is going well and I'm much less stressed. I love the fact that I leave at 4:30 almost every day and that my evenings are my own. Now, I just have to find a way to fill them.

Good Job Jade! Do you roll a straight ball?

Donny is about to overtake Dan and become only the second person to hold first place around here in bowling history.

Yes, but my straight ball has an unintentional curve to it. It took another lefty to show me how to properly accomodate that. And, I was using house balls that were too small for my thumb, causing me pain after three games in a row.

Plus, all the excessive team high-fiving every week is giving me a skin rash.

Jason forgot to mention my turkey last week, also...GOBBLES!

GOBBLES!

He did indeed forget to mention that.

Around here you get paid a quarter from everybody for a turkey.

so jason - is a 'hook' ball like how a-ron throws? without using the holes and spinning the ball? i've always wondered how people do that!

Congrats on the turkey, Jade!
So impressive!

It's how Aaron throws. Some people do it by putting the fingers in, some don't. My hook isn't as pronounced as his.

Ahem...I may have spoken too soon. Last week, Jason and I were ready to quit. It is so frustrating to have such a good week and then a horrible week and to not know what the difference was.

We added two people to our team last week, who are friends of our teammate. So, they are just as odd as she is. Yet, they are decent bowlers. So, maybe we won't be 12th place forever!

Laura, Turkey is the term for three strikes in a row. It doesn't really measure up, though, when people around you get five in a row or bowl in the 200s.

We will be in 12th place for the rest of the tourney. We are something like 3-4000 pins behind the next team up. I'm glad we have a full team, but now it takes even longer to finish. We bowled 3 games in 3 hours last week. I bowled 120 something my first game (hook), 170ish my second game (straight), and 130ish my 3rd game (back to hook again. I think my average is in the 120's.
